Der britische Singer/Songwriter Will Varley überzeugt auf dem Nachfolger seines 2018er Albums ›The Spirit Of Minnie‹ mit einer erdigen Mischung aus Folk, Rock und Alternative-Country. Erstmals im Alleingang produziert und von Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Tom Waits, Prince) gemastert, erscheint ›The Hole Around My Head‹ auf dem neuen Label Yellow Cake seines ex-Produzenten Cameron McVey (Massive Attack, Portishead, Neneh Cherry), der Varley und das neue Werk wie folgt beschreibt: ›Will’s the Springsteen of his generation to my ears and sensibilities. He’s not really a f**king folk singer, is he?! The songs are raw and the production almost painfully too honest at times. Will plays and sings like his studio is on fire and he has to finish before it burns to the ground.‹
