Die Pixies haben für 2022 ein neues Box-Set angekündigt, das ihre Reunion-Konzerte vom Juni 2004 in der Londoner Brixton Academy dokumentiert. »Live in Brixton« erscheint wahlweise auf acht CDs im Case Bound Book oder als 8-LP-Box mit 180 Gramm schweren Colored Vinyls.
Die Reunion-Shows fanden nach einer elfjährigen Pause der Band statt. Anfang Juni spielten die Pixies vier Shows in der Londoner Venue, die allesamt ausverkauft waren.
Pixies-Gitarrist Joey Santiago erinnert sich an die Reunion-Shows: »Es war ein unglaublicher Empfang, ich schätze, sie hatten uns in all den Jahren vermisst. Ich erinnere mich vor allem daran, dass ich hörte, dass der Balkon schwankte, und dass das Publikum noch lange nicht gehen wollte, nachdem wir die Show beendet hatten.«
Mit dem Box-Set »Live in Brixton« sind diese Aufnahmen der vier Gigs erstmals offiziell erhältlich. Die Sammlung enthält Live-Versionen von fast alle großen Hits und Fan-Lieblingen aus ihren Alben »Surfer Rosa« (1988) und »Doolittle« (1989) sowie Coverversionen von Neil Youngs »Winterlong«, Peter Ivers’ »In Heaven«, The Jesus and Mary Chains »Head On« und mehr. Alle Aufnahmen wurden für die Veröffentlichung von Phil Kinrade bei Alchemy Mastering neu gemastert. Das gesamte Tracklisting finden Sie im Folgenden.
Zusätzlich zu den Konzertmitschnitten enthält die »Live in Brixton«-Box ein 24-seitiges Booklet mit Fotos und neuem Artwork, Erinnerungen von Band und Zuschauern sowie ein ausklappbares Poster mit dem Artwork der Box.
