Beschreibung

Die Karriere von Caravan dauert nunmehr über 50 Jahre. Zeit, einmal zurückzublicken, und zwar mit einer gigantischen Box, die die Herzen ihrer Fans höherschlagen lässt: »Who Do You Think We Are?« versammelt 35 CDs, eine DVD und eine Blu-ray Disc. Weltweit gibt es nur 2.500 Exemplare.

Die Canterbury-Szene kombinierte Elemente aus Jazz, Folk, Rock und melodischem Pop zu einem Sound, der die Kluft zwischen Psychedelia und Progressive Rock überbrückte und schließlich alle Genregrenzen sprengte. Das Herzstück der Canterbury-Szene war eine Gruppe von Musikern, deren Karriere sich mittlerweile über ein halbes Jahrhundert erstreckt: die Legende Caravan.

»Who Do You Think We Are?« ist die ultimative Hommage an die Canterbury-Band. Dieses karriereumspannende Deluxe-Box-Set umfasst 37 Discs. Alle offiziellen Caravan-Alben wurden neu gemastert, darunter Studio- und Live-Aufnahmen. Sie werden durch elf Discs mit bisher unveröffentlichten Live-Auftritten ergänzt. Eine Blu-ray enthält den 5.1-Surround-Sound-Mix des klassischen Albums »In The Land Of Grey And Pink« von Remixer Steven Wilson. Zusätzlich gibt es eine DVD mit alten europäischen TV-Auftritten aus den Jahren 1971 bis 1981 (London Marquee, deutsche TV-Sendung Swing In, Bataclan, Paris und französische TV-Show »Pop 2«).

Die aufwendige Verpackung des Sets spiegelt die Größe der Band wider. Ein 144-seitiger, gebundener Bildband enthält seltene Caravan-Fotos und Erinnerungsstücke sowie eine vollständige Diskografie. Ein zweites Fanclub-Buch versammelt historische Presseartikel aus der gesamten Karriere der Band sowie ein neues Interview mit Gründungsmitglied Pye Hastings. Jedes Exemplar der Box enthält Fotos, die von den drei noch lebenden Mitgliedern der ursprünglichen Caravan-Besetzung signiert wurden: Pye Hastings, Richard Sinclair und David Sinclair. Als besonderes Extra wartet eine Auswahl an Erinnerungsstücken: eine Caravan-zentrierte Karte von Canterbury, ein speziell in Auftrag gegebenes Caravan-Stammbaum-Poster, das ihren langen und umständlichen Weg aufzeichnet, und zwei nachgebildete 1970er-Gig-Poster.
